Can Remark Classic OMR recognize type written text (OCR) or handwriting (ICR)?

No. Remark Classic OMR works with pre-printed forms that contain optical marks (OMR regions) and barcodes. This type of form processing uses the timing marks on the forms to tell the scanner where to look for information. Therefore, it merely looks for filled marks throughout the form (and barcodes on select forms).

Because Remark Classic OMR is dependent on the OMR reader technology, the software can recognize filled marks or checkboxes (OMR) as well as barcodes, but does not include any optical character recognition (OCR) or handwriting recognition (ICR or Intelligent Character Recognition) abilities.
